Architecture Carthage was located on the Northern Coast of Africa. Founded in the first millennium, there was a lot of architecture which was critically thought out. Their colonies were thoughtfully placed to ensure the quality of site was adequate for all endeavors including trade routes. There were city walls and harbor installations because the city was bordering the Gulf of Tunis. There was also a marketplace called the Agora. This was a very popular meeting area. The land also had a very accessible route to the Mediterranean. Because Carthage was a low hilly peninsula, there was a lot of routes for trade. There are not many remains but there are sites that indicate that there were many Christian structures including churches, and large temples. Art Carthaginian art was very heavily influenced by the Romans, Greeks and Etruscan's. Ivory, metals, glass, or simply the rearrangement of different home found object were just some of the materials used. Jewelry, and small trinkets were the few things that remained from burial ceremony's.
